I have a pile of English books gathering dust in my bookshelf at home and although I never read them they are too good to throw out. So I have decided to open an English Book Club in our Nakajima Park (Sun English) classroom.
How does it work? I will open a new page on this web-site where you can browse the books that we have available and if you would like to reserve one please send us a message from the Book Club page (coming soon). Does it cost anything? The book club is free for current students and sponsors. For other members wishing to borrow books there is a membership fee of 2000 yen, renewable each year. How long can I borrow a book for? Books may be borrowed for up to 2 weeks each time and extended if there are no requests for it at the end of the loan period. What is a sponsor? Anyone who donates their books, magazines, DVD sets or book cases to our club is able to borrow other books under normal conditions at no cost. We hope that all members will sponsor so that we can all share in a "free" book club. When will it start? The book club will be open from the 15th of May 2013. Stay posted for more updates.

All systems are go!
We can use this when a team has been working together to prepare for an event. Or when you and your family are finally packed, ready to leave on your Golden Week holidays. When everything is prepared, it's "All systems (are) go!" Note: "are" is optional. "Get on" or "Get in"
It's easy to confuse using these phrases. We can get on the train, an airplane, a bicycle, a horse, and so on. We can get in a car, a taxi, a private airplane, etc. So what are the rules? If we sit on top of it (bicycle) or can walk inside it (airplane) we can use get on. If it requires some effort or sitting position only (taxi) we use get in. Hope this helps.... When is it?
April 20th from 15:00 to 16:30 What is it? Free English conversation session in Nakajima Koen area. Come and practice speaking English for 90 minutes on Saturday afternoon. - Everyday English topics - Discussion skills - Presentation skills - Networking opportunity Where is it? DCW-来都語学教室 "Sun English School" 札幌市中央区南9条西3丁目 パークビル208 See link for more information: http://www.dcwinjapan.com/access.html How much does it cost? It's FREE!! Bitter-Sweet
We say something is bitter-sweet when there are both positive and negative points. For example, if we are leaving Sapporo to start our life in another city there is the "bitterness" of saying goodbye and the "sweetness" of the excitement of a new adventure! April Fool
This week the Internet company Google played a joke on their users by releasing two new services: google treasure maps and google nose. Many people were tricked by this harmless joke on April 1. If you got fooled by this joke, you are an April Fool! |
